Nukkad Natak is not just a word but an emotion. It is a form of theatrical performance and presentation of act in an open area in mostly large groups. Anyone can watch it free of cost and is mainly designed for common people. Nukkad Natak is performed at any open place like car parking, shopping mall area, road side space and it is also done by the organization with full preparation.
The main purpose of the street play is to tell and show the things happening in the society by acting so that people can get the right information.
Nukkad artist presented street plays on topics like Gender based discrimination & work place abuse, Child Labour, unfair practice of middlemen, choosing handmade and locally made produce over low quality mass-produce, health awareness etc.
Our Pahal NGO not only organizes Nukkad Natak but also gives training for Nukkad Natak where both young men and women take training so that they can reach the common people through art to the situation happening in the society. The artists of our organization do not participate just thinking of work, but the idea of making the society aware inspires all of them, so they wholeheartedly perform street plays, especially to bring awareness to the village poor people.
Nukkad natak as a tool of bringing change has many advantages. It conveys the message keeping the entertainment factor alive which attracts a lot of audience. Performance of street play in local languages contributes to community participation.
